A chill week! (Week 42)

Family,

I had a pretty chill week. Nothing too out of the ordinary happened. We are working with our investigadores, recent converts and menos activos!

Well it is time for transfers again...que loco!! We got a call last night and I am leaving Lujan. I have mixed feelings about transfers, como siempre (as always). I am excited to have a change. But I am also going to miss Lujan, all of the wonderful people here, and my super great companion.

Miracle of this week... This week we had a hard time finding news (new investigators). On Sunday we still had about 6 more to find to reach our goal and we needed to have three people with a fecha bautismal (baptismal date). The Lord worked miracles for us yesterday. At the end of the day we had found 5 news (new investigators) and three of the new people we found have a fecha bautismal! Their names are Mikaela, Nora, and Soledad.

Have a fantastic week!

Con mucho amor,
Hermana Burr

We went to a place that puts churros in the ice cream! How delicious! We also tried a churro filled with dulce de leche! It was the best churro that I have ever tasted!!!!

My one and only birthday in the mission was the best ever! (Week 41)

Dearest Family and Friends,

First off I want to wish the happiest anniversary to my parents! You really are the best parents in the entire world and I mean it with all of my heart. I hope you have a special day!

Well the flood went down and they do not sandbag here. There is a big river that runs through Lujan and it fills right up when it rains and rains. The river is also the low point so all of the water congregates there. It collects water from other cities and brings it here too. The river just keeps growing and it gets in the houses. About a third of my area was under water last week. So people literally had feet of water in their house. We saw a car in the street and it was almost covered to the roof. But the river has gone down and the people are back in their houses cleaning away. We have found opportunties to help some of the people. I am just fine. We live far from the river and we are in the high place in Lujan. Someone told us the water would have to reach over the top of the city building to reach us, and that will  never happen so we are good. We didn't have any problems with water.

Thanks for all of the birthday wishes! My mail box was sooo full and it really made my day special! I am still trying to respond to them all! We played ping-pong as a district and that was fun! And that night we went to a noche de hogar (family home evening) and they surprised me with cake! Also, I received in the mail an envelope with a lot of special brithday notes! Thanks to all who took the time to write me a note it really means a lot to me! It was the best surprise ever! Oh and the sun came out for my birthday in all of the rain, que felicidad! (happiness)

One of the miralces I saw this week was on Friday, a cold drizzly day. We were in the part of our area that got flooded. The river had gone down and the people were back in their houses. We thought we would go and see if anyone needed help cleaning. We were talking to a lot of people and no one would let us help them or listen to our meesage. We stopped to talk to an inactive member. Well he didn't want our help either, but his neighbor came out and we started talking to her. She didn't accept our help but was interested in our message when we talked about the peace it brings. She let us into her house to talk to her and her family. We taught and testified of the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ and His authority and how it blesses our families. This family, la familia Lulich (daniel, Mirta, Carla 22, Agustina 18), is really centered on the family and it is really important for them. So important that the parents are legally married. They also told us they liked how much unity there is in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I think this is the first time in my mission when I found a family that was legally married and has two kids of the age of baptism. I am excited to keep working with the family Lulich, my companion and I can see so much potential in them. I know that as we put forth our best efforts to serve the Lord he will provide.

Have a fantastic week!

Con mucho amor,
Hermana Burr

Una Semana de lluvia (a week of rain) (Week 40)

Family!

I am officially half way through my mission...How crazy!!! Also, thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday today! Don't feel offended if I didn't email you back today, I will get to all of the emails, I just don't have that much time!

This week it has been raining and raining and raining! Spring has hit! We are also predicting to get rain every day this week! Lujan is a low spot and has a big river that runs right through it so we are just praying that things will stop flooding! Don't worry mom we live in a place where it can't flood and we have a good solid roof over our heads!

I want to share an experience that I had yesterday. Yesterday it was raining all the day long, all day! The few set appointments we had planned for the night was what was keeping me going all through the day when we were in the rain and no one was letting us in the house to talk to them. One of our two set appointments called and told us that she could not longer meet with us. My animo por la obra (my encouragement for the work) went down a bit at this point but luckily I have an awesome companion that helped me get some animo back. We continued our day in the rain. As the day went on, still no one would let us in and talk to them, but the rain had stopped so I was feeling better. At this point we were stopping by a few more addresses that we had before we went to visit a recent convert with whom we had an appointment. It looked like it was going to start raining again and rain really really hard. I prayed that we would be able to have our lesson and get back to the apartment in safety before the hard rain hit. Well just when I finished my prayer it started raining really really hard. We were going to meet a member that was going to accompany us to the appointment. When we got to the meeting point we went under a roof part of a building so we weren't in the rain. There was also another man there waiting out of the storm. We started talking to him, he was really cool and we got his direction to go and pass by and visit him and his family. The reason I share this is because I know that the Lord has His way and His timing. When we pray it is not to change the Lord's will but to obtain the blessings he has prepared for us and wants to give us. His way is better. I know if we weren't out in the rain all day and if that hard rain didn't hit right in that moment, we wouldn't have found Fernando. I am learning to trust even more in the Lord, His will, His work, and His plan. I know that everything that happens, happens for a reason and the Lords way always works out better in the end. We just have to trust in him.

We are visiting the recent converts. We are trying to have them accompany us or the other missionaries in the branch so that they can remain active and gain a stronger testimony. Enzo is doing really well! I can see such a change in him since his baptism. He is so much happier! We asked him how he felt now that he has been baptized and he told us "accompanied". I loved his answer, because that is how it is. After baptism we have the gift of the Holy Ghost to be our constant companion to guide and protect us in every moment.

We are working with the Familia Sabor, menos activos, who are reactivating now! Milagros decided to go on a mission. We had her accompany us this week, it was great. She also gave us the reference of her friend. She invited us and her friend to a family home evening that we are going to have tonight.

Have a fantastic week!
Con mucho amor,
Hermana Burr

The Best Week! (Week 39)

Family!

I had a really amazing week! Yesterday was one of the best days in the mission and one of the happiest days of my life. Saturday was Enzo's baptism. It was one of the best baptisms I have ever been to. I really just felt the spirit. Yesterday during sacrament he received the Holy Ghost and after sacrament he received the Aaronic Priesthood. I can't express the joy I feel when I know I have done something to help someone come to know the gospel and see the changes, progress, and happiness it gives people in their lives. I worked a long time to see this baptism and I am eternally grateful to the Lord for letting me stay in Lujan for one more transfer so that I could see the changes that took place in the life of Enzo and his family. I know the Lord has blessed me so much in my mission. I know He is the one that works miracles in the lives of His children and I am blessed to see the miracles that take place in their lives and how it blesses my life.

Yesterday in fast and testimony meeting I had a really spiritual experience. I was full of the spirit and the joy that the gospel brings into my life. Jose, a recent convert, got up and bore his testimony about temples. He had the opportunity to go to the temple and he went with the names of his deceased parents and they were baptized. Nazarena and Mariano, recent converts, bore their testimonies as well. They talked about how much the gospel means to them and what it has done for them in their lives and how they are always going to be faithful to the Lord. Lucila, recent convert and sister of Enzo, bore her testimony. She talked about how ever since she joined the church a little while back she has been praying that her family would accept the gospel. A little time later Franco was baptized. Then a little while later their mother Miriam. And now Enzo was baptized. Now her whole famliy has been baptized. Franco, recent convert, also bore his testimony. He testified that he knows the church is true and that God puts certain things in our lives for certain reasons. Also, yesterday the hermana Sabor and her daughter Milagros came to church after being inactive for about 8 years. We have been working really hard with them. It made me so happy to see them and know they are starting to make the correct changes in their lives to follow our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Milagros also said that she is going to prepare to serve a mission. I am so grateful to my Savior for letting me serve Him and that He helps me to know what to do and say through the Holy Ghost so that He can accomplish His work here on the earth.

This week we found Daniel. It is a cool story of how we found him. We had a family home evening scheduled for monday night at the end of the work day. When we are going to travel to the family's home my companion's bike wheel was flat. We rapidly searched for a bike shop. They were all closed; it was too late at night for them to be open. When we were walking we saw a man (Daniel) and started to talk to him to see if he knew if there was a bike shop open. We got talking to him and he said we could pass by another day. So we passed by Wednesday moring. We had a good lesson with him and left him with a Book of Mormon and set an appointment for Saturday! When we went on saturday he had alredy read 98 pages!!! We are going to continue working with him. I believe he is a really good possibility to be baptized. He is really sincere about wanting to know if it is true and acting and doing his part to find out.

Have a fantastic week! I love you all!

Con mucho amor,
Hermana Burr
